What our daughter does in her spare time

She made 98 gingerbread houses for the girl scouts to decorate.  8 double batches of frosting.  20 pounds of candy.  42 kids. All the ingredients are edible so the kids can eat whatever they want.  There is that ever present danger of sugar-overload though. Everybody gets to decorate 2 houses; one to keep and one to take to the Seniors Rest Home. It’s an annual tradition.

I have more bird pictures to get rid of

American White Pelicans. Solitary Sandpiper Ruby-crowned KingletHe’s actually the smallest bird in this collection, but he was suddenly so close he filled up the frame! Neotropic Cormorant And a really cool South Texas bird, the Clay-colored Thrush. It’s like a Robin, but brown all over.

Anzalduas

It was special to go to Anzalduas County Park a while back. It got flooded by the Rio Grande a year ago and they closed it.  There was a lot of damage; a lot to repair.  We didn’t know if it was going to reopen or not.  They did a fine job though, and we got the park back. There is a comparable park on the Mexican side.  It’s easier to survey their damage, looking across the river, than to see our own. You can see the high water marks on a couple concrete buildings that got displaced. They have a ways to go yet on their repairs.
