Carbondale

We left the bus behind and drove the Jeep to Carbondale. We didn’t mean to go to the high country quite this early, but duty calls. Of course, to get here, we drove the Jeep through some of the nicest weather we’ve ever encountered. Sixty degrees, calm, blue sky, and perfectly clear roads. Now I know what you’re saying to yourselves right now. You’re saying “Another trip to Carbondale. He’s going to send another picture of that mountain. I know he’s going to send another Sopris picture.” Okay. I won’t keep you in suspense. Here it is, at the start of the trip this time.

Birds

And to go with the wood duck, (you remember the wood duck, right?), we have the black vulture. Charming fellow. Beautiful in the air. Not quite so pretty close-up.

Health

Another update. We see the dermatologist at least annually so he can repair the damage we’ve done. For years I saw him once a week, but that was for racquetball. Now we’re back to once or twice a year. He’s always blasting some spot with liquid nitrogen, or cutting something off to take a closer look. In December, he took a sample off Judy, and the biopsy came back positive for basal cell carcinoma. That’s one of the milder forms of skin cancer, but cancer nonetheless. Never like to hear the “C” word. We returned for the follow-up on Thursday, as instructed, and got the “all clear”. Nice to be “all clear”.
