Common right here in the Valley. A yard bird. (Conspicuously loud too.) But pretty much the same range as the crested caracara. Southern touches of the U.S. down through South America.

As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly
That WKRP classic.
I spotted this object in a distant tree. Looked pretty big.
I could tell there was red on the head. I thought it might be a turkey vulture.
Until I got close enough for a really good look.
Actually, wild turkeys can fly.
