You can trim palms a little at a time and keep them looking full and natural. That’s what we did with the palm trees on our site at Gulf Waters as long as we could reach them. When you have to pay someone to climb the trees and trim them, it makes more sense to pineapple them, so the trimming doesn’t have to get done so often. We don’t have to pay for the trees to be trimmed here, but the park does.
The little plane is working the large agricultural field next door.
It flies really low over us then drops right down to the ground over the field. It’s a reverse process coming back. It flies really low across the field, then pulls up just enough to get over us.
But only for a few days. For a health checkup today, I did a treadmill exercise test that involves a trace amount of radioactive dye. After Luis the tech had already injected the dye, he said “I hope you’re not planning on going through a border check or getting on an airplane in the next few days. You’ll set off the scanners.” I told him we were planning on getting on an airplane in a week or so. He gave me a note to hand to security in case I’m still detectable.
The treadmill test itself was fine. I was supposed to get my heart rate up to a particular target number and did. I wasn’t taxed yet, so they let me go a little longer just for fun. They use my age to calculate how fast I should be able to get my heart rate. The older a person is, the less they’re expected to do. I think we should flip it. We should use the heart rate I’m able to attain to define my age.
He’s getting better now, but he got this thing called Old Dog Syndrome. Idiopathic Vestibular Disease. It’s like a really severe case of vertigo. No known cause. He was fine one minute and suddenly couldn’t get his back end to stand up. He kept falling to the right and was incapacitated. We thought he was having a seizure, so it was an immediate ride to the vet. He didn’t look like he would be making the drive home with us.
The vet recognized it immediately and reassured us. This comes on suddenly, like a seizure, but is not cognitive at all. It’s more like a middle ear thing. Henry was likely to make a full recovery. As bad as he looked right then, he would be significantly better in three days. That was Thursday. Here we are on Sunday, three days later, and he is up and around again. Eating and drinking normally. Jumping up and down off the furniture. He is still listing a little to the right but continues to get better every day.
