Counters and cabinets

A busy day today.

The floor guys were back fixing a few defects.  The quartz counter guy was out taking measurements so he could do the kitchen countertops.  The cabinet guys showed up with a couple goodies.

The bathroom corner cabinet for a linen closet.  (We ordered it on Friday, and they brought it today.)  (Amazing.)

The dining room countertop opposite the kitchen quartz countertop.  This one will be painted wood.

Tomorrow the painters come.  The range hood arrived today.  We’re ordering all the drawer and door pulls tonight.  We had 44 doors and drawers to account for in preparation for this redo.  Today I counted 54 new doors and drawers that need handles.

This project is so fast, it’s making our heads spin.  We can barely keep up with all the materials and color choices, and all the incidental decisions that have to happen rapid fire.

Two Orioles

If you see either of these two orioles in the U.S., you’re in Way South Texas.  Both nonmigratory, they are only here and farther south in Mexico.

The Altamira Oriole.

And the rarer and more skittish Audubon’s Oriole.

Manage to be in the right place at the right time and get to see both on the same day.

A gaggle of Chachalacas

They kind of remind me of the velociraptors in Jurassic Park.  They’re always talking amongst themselves.  Have to wonder what they’re up to.
