Something has come up with his gymnastics. He has been invited to join an Elite Program. We don’t know anything about what the Elite Program is, so we looked it up online. Alex has been competing as JO, Junior Olympics. He would change to competing as JE, Junior Elite. Apparently the decision about who can participate in the Junior Elite Program is made at the national level, so this relates back to his exposure at the Nationals in Orlando in May. The first year of Junior Elite competition would be national. After that it would be international. It wouldn’t involve a change in gyms or coaches, but the training and competing might be a little different. It would start with a three day camp where he would be exposed to additional coaching and additional coaches. As a Junior Sun Devil, he’s working where the Arizona State University coaches are. The Junior Elite training would involve more college coaches from across at least Region I, so if nothing else this might improve his chances for a college scholarship. (No hurry, he just started his first year of High School.) We’ll find out more in September. Exciting times…

Now we’re in the middle of Oregon 2017 Summer Trip Map We’re here to get a couple things done at Beaver Coach Sales on Monday. There are lots of other kinds of shops for motorhome stuff in Bend too. We’re going to check tomorrow to see if anyone wants to put a Sirius Radio in the bus for us. Eleven days until the eclipse; and we’re very close to where the totality is going to be. We’ve heard on the news that Wyoming, with a population of about 500,000 is expecting another 500,000 for the eclipse. Oregon is a expecting a million. Reservations at parks are hard to get. We’re at Crown Villa for three days, but we’ll have to move each day. After that, we’ll be in the parking lot at Beaver Coach Sales until they’re through with us.
