In spite of my recent efforts

In spite of my recent efforts to understand knots, I find my left shoe still comes untied and my right one doesn’t.  Rather than resort to the brute force of a double knot, I want to find the more elegant solution of the perfectly tied knot. Knots are sensitive.  They each work in specific circumstances and not in others.  A good knot, in the wrong application, turns into a bad knot.  Maybe it’s that way with shoe-tie knots.  Maybe what’s perfect for the right shoe is wrong for the left shoe. My solution?  Tie the normal knot on the right shoe, and tie the exact opposite knot on the left.  Easy to say, not that easy to accomplish.  Try it.  Study the way you tie your shoe for the right shoe, then try to reverse everything for the left.  All those years of muscle-memory are hard to overcome; but tied in reverse, the stresses on the left knot should now be exactly the same as the ones on the right knot.   Genius? Maybe.

Maybe I haven’t sent out enough Colorado pictures

A trip to the high country today.  First, the high foothills.    Then the really high country.  There are still bits of snow on the ground. Back down to the plains, we’ve got a nice spillway at Golden Ponds. And the sign that continues to confuse me.There is an implication here.  Does “No trespassing beyond this point” mean that I may be trespassing already, but I’m not allowed to do it past this point? And as far as signs go, what’s wrong with this one?Diesel is less than unleaded?  Way less.  We’re definitely bringing the bus here to tank up before we leave. And back to St Vrain State Park, another evolving sunset.

Judy isn’t here

She flew to California a couple days ago to help Barbara Shockley celebrate her birthday.  Henry and I stayed home (At the motorhome in Colorado).  Barb is a sister-in-law, but like a sister to Judy.  She and Judy’s brother Earl were dating at the same time Judy and I were.  It was (is) a big party; 65 people.  It’s still going on.  It’s at a hotel.  Judy booked a room so she wouldn’t have to drive anywhere in the dark after. Judy sent me a picture of her, Barbara, and Sue. Judy will rejoin me in Colorado next week.

Lunch with the McKees

We met Don and Barb in 1976.  We had just moved into the Louisville house.  I had been driving around, exploring our new town, and was struck by a stately brick home in old town.  When Judy got home, I piled her in the car and drove the few blocks to show her my discovery.  She said “Oh.  That’s where the McKees live.  Want to meet them?” So many things we’ve done together in the years since.  I don’t have a picture of then.  Here is a picture of now:
