Donald Trump

If you bought a bag of clichés and platitudes, and dumped them out on the kitchen table every night, the result could be the Trump stump speech the next day.  His is not a cerebral appeal. I hear the news say that among all registered voters, Donald Trump has a favorability rating of 28.  I know that someone will like anyone, and 28 is not a very high number, but still, I’d like to know who those 28 people are!  We’ve gone west.  Couldn’t get a spot right in Vista tonight, so we’re a little north of Escondido for one night. 2016 Summer Trip Map Champagne Lakes RV Resort. We’re tucked in the trees. It’s a nice spot.

We thought we had it all figured out

We’ll go to Colorado for the month of May.  We’ll drop down to Arizona for the month of June, before it gets too hot. Oops.  It’s too hot.  Phoenix is about to hit 120 degrees, the hottest it has been there in decades.  Excessive heat warnings.  It’s too hot for us. We headed west.  2016 Summer Trip Map It’s a little hot driving through the desert, but we’ve got plenty of air conditioners; generator on, both overhead air conditioners directed to the front room (and driving compartment), and dash air on full.  It might be even hotter than Phoenix where we are in Yuma tonight, but we’ll continue west tomorrow.  Time for a visit to the California coast to visit Judy’s sister-in-law Barbara, and Judy’s sister Sue.  We’re excited about seeing them, but Vista California; that’s very close to Oceanside, and you know what Oceanside means… Hot Pastrami Sandwiches at Angelo’s!!! Angelo’s or bust!  (Or both.)

Evening light

Judy and I went to the top of Madera Canyon to listen for night birds. We scored two lifers: Mexican whip-poor-willWhiskered screech-owl We didn’t see either of them, but we heard them well. It’s good to add to the life list.  The last time we got a lifer was November 2015. We’re doing fine on the year count though.  If we saw a new year-bird every day for a year, we’d be done now.  We’re at 365 for 2016.
