But if you try sometimes

It’s getting better.  A spot across the road from us opened up.  We moved over this morning.  We even fit in this one a little better. Now we have 50 amp service and our satellite dish can see the sky.  Excellent.  We’re getting what we need. And then we got a nice visit with some of Brother Bill’s branch of the family.  Jon and Amy; Jake, Cody, Linda Sue, and Delilah.  We thought Barbara was going to be there too, but she was a no-show.  It turns out the reason for her no-show was that her boyfriend proposed to her that morning.  I guess that counts as a better offer. It was a nice warm day.  We hung around outside in the shade  …until there wasn’t enough shade left. But we could move inside to the air conditioning. Nice family-time.

You can’t always get what you want

We waited until the weekend to drive back to the Seattle area, so we would miss most of the traffic on Interstate 5.  Ha ha.  This is the Pacific Northwest.  Traffic always sucks on Interstate 5. It took longer than planned, but we made it to our destination, the Majestic Mobile Manor RV Park in Puyallup.  Ha ha again.  It’s not exactly majestic.  We don’t exactly fit in our spot either. They had a 50 amp site for us, but it was smaller than this one.  They’re nice here, but spatially challenged.  We’ve got 30 amps for tonight and no satellite television; our satellite dish can’t see the south sky through the trees.  But the view; the view is amazing.  We can see Mount Majestic from our windshield. Well….  It might look like the back side of a landfill to you, …. but hey, you can’t always get what you want. It’s so bad here it’s almost good… and that’s life on the road. 2015 summer trip map

While we were in Bend

We got to visit with Rick and Sheri. We know them from South Texas and southern Arizona in the winter. This is our first visit with them in their summer habitat.  Who knew they had such a cool house? It’s outside of Terrebonne, with a view of Crooked Creek Canyon.  While we were there, a Lazuli Bunting visited their feeder.

The Great Pacific Northwest Tour

2015 summer trip map We haven’t had enough.  We headed north.  Now we’re at Memaloose State Park on the Columbia River.  We got lucky.  When we got here, the site we had reserved wasn’t that good, but the ranger had a nice one in reserve and we got that.  There are trees, but the satellite dish on our roof is open to the sky, so we could watch the republicans debate each other, and watch Jon Stewart’s final show. The campground is nice.     And we saw a Lewis’s Woodpecker.

Happy Anniversary to us

It’s our 10 year anniversary in the bus today.  In celebration of that event, we’ve brought the motorhome back to her roots in Bend Oregon.  We’re at Beaver Coach Sales, where we made the purchase.  We’re getting a few things fixed; some tank gauges, a slide-out latch, some minor interior stuff. It’s fun to work with the people in the service and parts departments that have been with Beaver Coaches for all this time.  Many of them were helping build them in the factory fifteen or twenty years ago.  When we describe things we want fixed or modified, we get instant recognition of what we’re talking about.  They’ve seen all this many times before.  They know their coaches. We had an appointment for Tuesday morning at 8am.  They were ready for us when we walked in the door.  They did everything on our list in a day and a half.  A visit to a repair shop and we’re almost sorry for it to be over so fast. We’ll be off to continue our adventure first thing tomorrow morning.
