We see lots of birds in Texas, but we don’t see all the birds there are. Birds are regional, so it’s easier to see some of them by *not* being in Texas. Since we’ve been on our trip out of Texas this year, we’ve gotten: Prairie Falcon Evening Grosbeak Juniper Titmouse Mountain Chickadee Black-capped Chickadee Calliope Hummingbird Black-billed Magpie Blue Jay Common Merganser California Gull Mountain Bluebird Steller’s Jay Lewis’s Woodpecker Golden Eagle Bald Eagle Trumpeter Swan Gray Jay Song Sparrow Clark’s Nutcracker Red-naped Sapsucker Sharp-tailed Grouse Red Crossbill Sage Thrasher Some of them are so common, just not common in Texas.
Distance traveled
I don’t walk very far; often only two or three miles at a time. I’m persistent though. I walk every day. I got to thinking about how that adds up and realized I walk a thousand miles a year. That’s amazing. That’s the distance from South Texas to Denver. I could walk from Los Angeles to Boston in three years. I’m the tortoise!
Judy
Doctor’s visit today. We got the ear culture results. No bacterial infection. It was Aspergillus niger. Black mold. But now that we know what it is, it’s already gone. No more infection. No more pain. Her Eustachian tubes are still a mess though. They’re totally plugged, so she is uncomfortable and can’t hear. Now she’s back on steroids to reduce the inflammation and swelling of the Eustachian tubes. If that pressure can be relieved, she might get some comfort and maybe even a healed eardrum. Maybe in another month…?
