Northeastern Wyoming. Southeastern Montana. Rolling grassland. West of Billings it’s still grassland, but more forested.
Except for Billings, hardly any other cars on the road. Just here and there. An early afternoon stop in Three Forks, west of Bozeman. Real food at a café for dinner. Yesterday was a Subway sandwich.
I love the way the new cruise control works. It’s adaptive cruise; it monitors the car in front and maintains a safe distance. In addition, it’s smart. It knows what the speed limit is on every street. Push resume, and it doesn’t matter what it was set at before, or even if was set before. Tell it to resume and it just goes directly to the appropriate speed for that road. (Plus 5 miles per hour or whatever else cushion has been preset by the driver.) The smart cruise is probably right 95% of the time. Once in a while it picks up a school zone that’s not really there or something, but that’s no problem. An inappropriate slow down can easily be overcome with a right foot. Easy driving. All we have to do is keep it in the correct lane and pointed the right direction!
