We have reservations at Saint Vrain State park starting Sunday. The park is totally booked for the weekend, but surely with all this rain, someone will cancel and we’ll be able to get in. Somebody cancelled all right. We got up this morning, had coffee and watched the news to see how much weather we were going to get. It turns out Colorado is in the eighth day of a ten-day weather event. They’ve had rain every day for eight days, with more rain, and snow, in the forecast. In between weather reports on the news, we also learned that Saint Vrain State Park was evacuated in the middle of the night last night, due to flooding. So much for our plans. Judy, of course, called around and located a spot for us at the Boulder County Fairgrounds for the entire week. So we rolled into town from Strasburg, set up, had lunch, and set off for Becky’s house. Matt, Lindsay and the kids drove up from Highlands Ranch for an early Mother’s Day celebration. Weather warnings for the Denver area:We got the trifecta. We drove back to the bus nice and early to get settled before the rain turned to snow. 2015 summer trip map
