So does the butterfly.

So does the butterfly.

At the Valley Nature Center.

Pretending they’re cypress trees in a swamp!

Or expect.
At Choke Canyon State Park there are RV spots, like we stay at in our motorhome. There are tent sites. For those without RVs or tents, there are cabins and shelters for rent.
It was a peaceful scene at this shelter. All the kitchen gear out on the table. Awnings up. Javelinas peacefully grazing in the yard. Wait. Javelinas? These places aren’t for javelinas. Fishermen had set up camp here, then took their boats out fishing for the day. While they were gone, the javelinas took advantage.

The javelinas trashed everything in their reach, then laid down to burp and fart until someone came home to shoo them away.

Not cool; arriving home to a pile of satisfied javelinas.

Hurricane Delta, now a Category 4, is headed for Cancun and after that, it’s expected to score a direct hit on Louisiana. We’re clear of it in South Texas, but we’ll keep watch. For Dona and Stanley who left here for Hammond, Louisiana, it will be their fifth time in the cone this season!
I get several calls a day wanting to help me with my vehicle warranty or credit card debt. Sometimes I’ll talk to them to see how much of their time I can waste. They never know which vehicle or credit card they’re trying to help me with. Now I’ve stopped answering calls from unidentified numbers altogether. If it’s not a crank call, and it’s important, they’ll leave a message.
Judy has been getting about ten calls a day from people wanting to help with her Medicare. Of course, they’re not really from Medicare. Judy even called Medicare to find out what’s up, and they told her nothing could be done about the calls. So now she is trying something different. For every unidentified number, she answers the phone “Medicare Fraud Department, Agent Shockley.” Not once has there been a response to that answer other than a hesitation and a click. The last few days she has been getting far fewer calls. Only one today.
