Not the trip report I meant to write

Not the one I want to write either, but I’ve updated you a couple times on Marilyn’s health.  Buddy and Marilyn our next-door neighbors.  Marilyn had that brain bleed a couple months back, got treated at the hospital for weeks, had been home for a couple weeks recuperating, and doing well.  She had a new episode this afternoon and got ambulanced back to the hospital.  This evening, Buddy got the call that she was gone.

Married fifty-four years.  Married when she was seventeen.  The parallels to Judy and me are painful.  Our hearts go out.

When we were kids

There were der Weinerschnitzles in California when we were kids in the 1950s and 1960s.  They weren’t a big draw; not like McDonalds, Taco Bell, Pip’s (for hot pastrami sandwiches), and Del Taco; but we went there sometimes.  Then we forgot about them for fifty years or so.

While we were on this trip though, we found them again, in San Antonio.  Weinerschnitzel!  We stopped at one for lunch.

Hot dogs.  Chili dogs.  Polish dogs.  Low prices.  Der Weinerschnitzel.  We ate there.  Really, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Now we’re home to Sandpipers.

September 2020 Trip Map

It’s good to be back.

In case you’re wondering

In case you’re wondering what an ECM looks like; I took a photo of our old one on a piece of cardboard with my foot in the picture for perspective.

Engine Control Module.  The brain of the engine.  As a brain, I was expecting something smaller.  This one must be highly evolved.  Anyway, the brain has been replaced and reprogrammed.  We’re all feeling much better now.

Tonight, we’re at Choke Canyon State Park

Henry and Jesse are already asleep.

We got flu shots

I don’t know why we even bother though.  If our social distancing and masks are doing such a good job avoiding Covid, what chance does the flu have?  It’s less contagious than Covid!

I could send out pictures of Brackenridge Park in San Antonio, but you wouldn’t be able to tell those pictures from all the others we’ve been sending out.

See what I mean?

But the train looks a little different.
