The Motorcoach Resort

It’s a nice view out the windshield. Nice desert landscaping.  And it’s Monday; no stock car, dirt track, or drag racing, although the freeway is still right behind us.  Family photos. Matt getting ready to fix us dinner. Alex with his friend Zack on his Dad’s computer. Becky sent us a picture of Teigan’s hair. We thought maybe that was a color not found in nature, but then we saw this bougainvillea!

Sunday

2017 Arizona State Gymnastics Championship. Level 9, 13 to 14 year olds.  Alex did a lot of stuff well, but had a couple stumbles.  He placed on the parallel bars 2017 Alex Parallel bars …but not on any of the other events.  He’ll move on to the Regional Championships in Reno next month though.  Found a snow goose out for a walk in the desert.

This is an odd place

This RV Resort. Here is what it looks like on Google Earth.  It looks like Google Earth has it still under construction.  It would be easier to visualize if it was full of motorhomes.  I should have a drone so I could send an aerial view of how it looks now. The RV sites are set up in clusters, each cluster having a concrete central meeting/sitting place.  Each site has a strip of asphalt leading in, with a cement pad.  Cement walking trails connect everything together from the middle.  Not the way you’d normally expect an RV park to be laid out. We asked, and were told that this used to be a display lot for a sales room, showcasing upscale big rigs.  I guess this would be a good way to let customers get the feel of each coach with everything set up and plugged in. It’s in an odd place though; an industrial part of town.  It’s right next to the freeway.  Lots of traffic noise except when the racetrack on the other side drowns out the freeway noise.  If a person was starting from scratch, they probably wouldn’t choose this as a desirable location.  I guess having the infrastructure already in place made it seem like a better idea.  In fact, it must be a good idea because it’s full every night. It’s a clean and orderly place.  Its most redeeming quality though is that it’s very handy to Matt’s house.  American Widgeons. And a Northern Shoveler.

Dear diary

Nothing happened today. Got up early.  Met with the repair guy who is going to do a couple minor things for us tomorrow (there is always something minor that needs attention), I got a proposal out for a cool job in Santa Fe, took a walk while the rig got washed, the refrigerator stopped working (coincidentally right at the same time that side of the coach was getting washed), found a switch that got wet, tried and failed to get it dried out and working again, packed all the food from our freezer into a cold-bag to take to Matt’s and put in his freezer, fixed a window latch that got jammed, Judy got a new phone, bought groceries, went with Matt to pick up Alex from school, Matt helped set-up the new phone, Judy cooked dinner, we all played with the virtual reality headset, we packed up and came home, got the fridge working again. Nothing to write about. Saw Ring-necked Ducks.

Phoenix

A 170 mile day. arizona trip map We’re at The Motorcoach Resort in Chandler for two weeks. Not the State Park camping experience.  We’ll get the rig washed and stay nice and clean for a while.  No dirt.  No campfires. Nice and close to Matt and Lindsay’s house.  Didn’t get the family photo yet.  Never got all of them there at the same time. Abert’s Towhee.
